Orginally bred for the the 'sport' of bullbaiting, which was popular in
England for over 700 years before it was made illegal in 1850. Todays

less athletic.

Average Weight - Males 25 kg Females 23 kg
Breed Personality/Character - Usually very placid and gentle, but can be
territoral around which they regard as "theirs". Their appearance rather
than their temperant is their only assert as a "watchdog". Their solid
figure and massive head would deter many a marauder. They are stoic to a
fault.
Maintance - Having a short coat brushing once a week is all that is
required. Skin folds should have daily attention. A short walk once a day
should suffice to keep up muscle tone.
Please Note That agitation particulary during hot weather can be fatal.
