| Passwords
(Web Site, FTP, Telnet, Email Passwords)
When you connect to your Wolf Web account to upload and maintain
your web site or to receive email, you are asked to supply two
pieces of information: your username (which identifies who you
are) and your password (to verify that you are who you say you
are).
Never disclose your Wolf Web password to anyone. Not even
us, if someone asks you your password pretending to be us
or anyone else, do NOT give it to them! - Contact us with
as much information as you can and we'll have the incident
investigated by the proper authorities. If someone knows both
your password and username, they can connect to your Web Site
or Email account and damage or steal information. Like with
a Bank Account PIN, it is your responsibility to keep your
Wolf Web password secure.
We will set an inital password for you, you can then change
it to one of your choice if you like. Choose a password that
is difficult to guess. One useful tip is to think of a phrase
and use the first letters of each word (e.g. my pet dog is
a very nice rottweiler = mpdisvnr).
You can
have up to 8 characters in your password, try and use all
eight.
Use a
combination of letters and numbers in your password (e.g.
m3diavnr).
Use a
mix of upper and lower case (e.g. m3DiaVnr). Wolf Web passwords
are case-sensitive, which means that wolF and wolf are treated
as different words. You must enter your password using the
same upper and lower case letters each time.
Do not use your name, birthday, childs or pets name, or other
obvious information as your password.
Do not
use any word that appears in a dictionary (including foreign
words).
Do not
use the same password for different services (this minimises
the damage done should a password fall into the wrong hands).
Do not
use any of the example passwords on this page or in any book
about security.
